Lately, I have been considering different ways to change my own life, to take control, to build a future for myself. It all started when I met with a guy who messaged me on LinkedIn. He wanted to talk to me about network marketing and he gave me a book by Robert Kiyosaki called “The Business of the 21st Century.”
I’m not going to lie, while I was sitting in the meeting I felt super skeptical. I mean it kind of sounded like a pyramid scheme or something. Also, he wasn’t very clear about what his company does or what my role would be. He stressed the idea of building wealth and meeting his wealthy mentors. Well that all sounded well and good, but I was still pretty confused. “It isn’t a job,” he said “It is an opportunity.” Okay… an opportunity for what?
So I took the book home, promised to finish it and have my mother read it by our second meeting next week. (At this meeting he also wants my mother to attend so that she understands what I will be doing so that she doesn’t discourage me in my future work.) I began to read it, and honestly it’s quite inspiring. I mean, Robert Kiyosaki sure knows how to convince you that you can be rich. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS START A BUSINESS!
A business doing what, you might ask. I DON’T KNOW! But I have to start something. I don’t even know where to start. I’m now doing the work of taking stock of all of my skills, ideas, and connections. A few far-fetched things have crossed my mind, but maybe if I think on it long enough, something legitimate will come about. After a successful business that is on the rise for at least 5 years, the next step is real estate. I really want to buy land in New Jersey to grow weed, but that is a story for another time. (I want to grow it, sell some, use some to make edibles, and have store fronts, online shops, etc. etc.) I also have an idea of starting factories in Jamaica and Guyana to manufacture products to sell in the US as well as in those countries, and employing my people! First I need income, I think. And people who know how to do these things. But once I have all of that, I will be unstoppable!
So, have you ever thought of starting a business? In what? Do you already own a business? Do you have tips or investors for me?
